This new radio station at Live 365 has a great playlist that actually includes a few classical pieces by composer J.S. Bach. The Bach compositions offer an amazing music contrast to the remainder of the station's playlist which is heavily weighted on the side of classic rock but ranges all the way to the BillBoard Top 200. Jim Wilson’s new CD, “A Place In My Heart” resounds with a freshly melodic transcendence that places the listener in the middle of what Wilson calls, “...the perfect California day...”. The compositions on this album center around the places and people that Wilson has known and loved. This gifted composer has learned well his craft and for that reason there is a narrative quality to his music that resonates with the heart and enables most people to enter into the broadly emotional experience described by his music.

Wilson’s thoughtful and well produced music is stylishly fresh with contemporary exuberance and classically rich intensity and depth. From the opening crescendo of the first track, “Morning On Cannery Row”, Wilson successfully engages the heart of his audience. Anticipation builds as the theme is first introduced by the violin, viola and cello followed by Wilson’s bright thematic proclamation on the piano. The beautifully lilting melodic contour of this first song sets the scene and prevailing mood of the entire project, providing an early taste of Wilson’s ingenious ability to capture in song both heartache and joy, optimism as well as angst.

This tonal duality has the amazing effect of putting the composer and his audience on such common ground that his song becomes their song. This magical relevance distinguishes Wilson’s music with universal appeal. However, the resulting bond between composer, listener and music could also be the CDs only short coming of note. Although the music is clearly passionate, listeners might develop a dispassionate over familiarity with its themes.

However, this would be a mistake on their part. Wilson has crafted enough melodic and harmonic variation into his compositions to keep the attentive listener well entertained. Several arrangements feature judicious use of the ethnic tonality which has gained increasing interested and appreciation as of late. For example the Irish flutes, whistles and Uilleann pipes played by Eric Rigler on, “A Place In My Heart”, “Sanctuary” and “Eagle’s Flight”, introduce a most pleasing sonic contrast in these songs and the project as a whole.

Additionally, Wilson’s superb piano technique is wonderfully accompanied on most tracks by the stellar performances of, Kristen Autry on violin, Briana Bandy on viola and cellist Sharon Rizzo. This ensemble maintains the predominantly warm timbre of this project, playing on eight of the tracks. Their appealing presence stands out especially in, “Morning On Cannery Row”, but their performances on all of the tracks are notable. No doubt the effectiveness of this trio owes much to arrangers Brad Cole and Quinn Johnson.

“Foolish Me” is the first of two songs in which Wilson sings, demonstrating yet another dimension of giftedness. This song also features the 50 piece Prague Orchestra. Wilson also sings on, “If The Morning Never Comes”, where he duets with Marilyn Martin (who sang duet with Phil Collins on the hit “Separate Lives”). Although the lyrics, vocals and instrumental performances on these two songs are dynamic and flawless, they in no way overshadow the instrumental greatness of the balance of this album.

Wilson works with a number of other renowned musicians on this project including trumpeter Chris Botti, acoustic guitarist Ricardo Silveira, guitarist Davey Johnstone, Neil Stubenhaus on bass, drummer Vinnie Caliouta and percussionist Alex Acuna.

Isolating a “best of” on “A Place In My Heart” would be too formidable a task for this reviewer. The sunny optimism of “Morning On Cannery Row” comes to mind as does the ethereal majesty of “Eagle’s Flight” and the mystical loftiness of “Hunter’s Moon”. Still there is the spiritual introspection and peace of “Sanctuary”, the title tune “A Place In My Heart” and the dreamily melodic “Luna de La Jolla”. Suffice to say this recording deserves a place in the rotation of any worth while CD collection. “A Place In My Heart” will undoubtedly abide in the hearts of grateful listeners as a welcomed and special addition.

It is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Often, a musical group will be remembered by its "number ones", those of their albums that outsold all others during at least one week.

Billboard began publishing album charts on March 24, 1945, expanded to the current size and name on March 14, 1992. Since May 26, 1991, the Billboard 200 positions have been derived from Nielsen SoundScan sales data, currently contributed by approximately 14,000 music sellers. Because these numbers are supplied by a subset of sellers rather than record labels, it is common for these numbers to be substantially lower than those reported by the Recording Industry Association of America when Gold album awards are announced (RIAA awards reflect wholesale shipments, not retail sales).

The chart omits unit sales for listed albums and total recorded sales, making it impossible to determine, for example, if the number one album this week sold as well as the number one from the same period in the prior year. It is also impossible to determine the relative success of albums on a single chart; there is no indication of whether the number one album sold thousands more copies than number 50, or only dozens more. All music genres are combined, but there are separate Billboard charts for individual market segments. The complete sales data broken down by location is made available, but only in the form of separate SoundScan subscriptions.

Another plus is that this site gives attention to some of the many independent, or indies as they are sometimes called, musicians, artists, and bands. The home page to Top Ten Place features several indie artists and links to their home pages. Some of the graphics link to the artists' pages at soundclick where their music can either be streamed from the website or downloaded for free. Most of the indies on Top Ten Place are very good. Some of them are exceptionally good. Its always a worth while venture here to pick up on some unknown artists or bands that are out there putting it together without the support of the big record companies. You just have to love the idea that these indies are doing what they do because they love music, they love performing and creating.

I suppose this star is one of my favorites also. Maybe she is even in my list of top ten favorites. Its difficult to consign any to such an exclusive list that changes ever so often. For those of you who have the friend or maybe the brother - in - law who knows every stat on every soul that ever played professional football, this page might give you just enough amunition to hold your own. At the very least you can find some tid bit of information that "Mr. Sports Know It All" might have never heard. Blog Addiction! Could this really happen?
Here are all of the blogs that I have been writing. There is some redundancy and I’m not complete sure I know why. For instance, Indie Reviews carries basically the same content as does Knettenterprises. Poetsblog and New Poets also carry very similar if not identical posts. Top Ten Blog will at times mirror the post on any of the forgoing blogs. Church Directory is not duplicated by any of the blogs which is also true of Faith Blog as well as this one Web Promo.

Discounting those blogs that are for some reason replicated under different titles and urls leaves me with just two or three different blogs. If that is an addiction it is a very small one and I'm inclined to believe that the problem is negligible. I can easily manage on two hours of sleep each night and since I work at home, I'n not really spending anyone elses time but my own as I read and write myself into blog-oblivion.

There, I'm so glad we talked this out.

There might be some but I don't recall for sure now. The cool thing is that there are some really excellent acts represented here. Some of the artists on this page are singer/songwriters who do not do a lot of public performance but through the Internet they are making their presence felt to a world wide audience. So, these indies are at least very innovative and worthy of at least a listen.

Soma Mestizo describes themselves as a "body of mixtures." There are many levels and vantage points from which to enjoy and appreciate the music of this artistic group.

For instance, any thoughtful person will invest some measure of time simply listening to the unearthly and hypnotic bass tracks performed by Eric "Booboo" Mason on the didgeridoo. It takes a while to come to terms with a band that uses the didgeridoo for bass, but this is only one of the many delightful dimensions of their unique sound.

The band was founded by the talented Soy Sos, who plays a multitude of instruments from guitar to percussion. His multi-timbre tastes have helped to forge out a complex and profound aural presence which is aptly held together by percussionist Richard Skilah.

Perhaps the most striking dimension of the group comes into play with the creative prowess and performance of singer/poet Christiane D. Christiane presents an amazing mix of the ethereal, the exotic and the raged edge of urban survival. She may be the reason one writer called Soma Mestizo, "The Cure for the common writers block." Without question, the ambient darkness and pervasive sensuality of this group is not only captivating but stimulating.

Their most recent CD, Interim 2, features 9 tracks which include various remixes, dubs, and b-sides. With typical Soma Mestizo darkness and sensuality, "Nail In Her Coffin," the first track, confronts listeners with an almost un-worldly but very sexual feminine persona, which surfaces on several other tracks on the CD.

The sensual overtone comes through even on instrumental pieces such as "Silver Dub." Although Track 3, "Eagle Screaming Red Sky," introduces new sounds, it further establishes the rhythmic and pervasive percussive content which dominates Interim 2.

This demonstrates yet another interesting aspect of Soma Mestizo. Although there is not a lot of tonal variation, the group continually introduces new instrumentation and effects which prevent any boredom or ear fatigue one might experience otherwise.

Soma Mestizo deserves attention, and with Interim 2, they offer a great deal of interesting entertainment to listeners who appreciate lots of percussion, good poetry, and mind bending effects.

Oh, you just have to love this! Do a keyword search using top 10 and your returns will indeed feature an astounding list. Although its not in the "top ten" returns on Google, Merriam-Webster Online has a Top Ten Words for 2004 List. Guess what the number one word on the top ten list happened to be in 2004. You got it. Its "Blog". For some reason that strikes me as funny.

It does seem that at some point in 04 everyone around me was using the word. I know its not new but something happened in 04 that suddenly put the spot light on the idea.

Well its interesting to watch and even participate in the evolution of language.
